6. LAN is normally arranged within a small area or close area or group.
7. Twisted- pair cable can be used in networking.
8. The mobile network can be MAN or WAN.
9. Different hardware devices and transmission media are used in MAN.
10. Network are divided into three categories.
II. QUESTION ANSWER
1. What do you understand by computer network?
ANS: A computer network is any set of computer or devices connected to each other with the ability to exchange data. It can also consist of, and usually made for, more than two computers. It’s comprises of a number of inter- connected computer either through cables or other communication link like satellite etc.
2. With the help of a diagram state the different between LAN and WAN?
ANS: The different between LAN and WAN is that
LAN stand for Local Area Network it is a collection of personal computer and other peripheral devices connected at one location as shown in the diagram below.
For example a house, an office, a school, a building, a hospital, etc. it is a private network arrange within a small area or close group. Whereas,
WAN stand for Wide Area Network. It is a very large area network that spreads across cities, states and countries. It can be a private or public network which is set up by using cables, microwaves or satellite. As shown in the diagram.
Internet is an example of a WAN which is a combination of many smaller WANs.
3. Write down the advantages of computer Networks?
ANS: The advantages of a computer networks are stated below:
i. SHARING FILES: Its allows user to share hardware devices and resources like printer.
ii. SHARING INFORMATION: Its allows several user to work and share information among a large number of users around the world.
iii. CENTRALIZED SOFTWARE: Its allows user to use software application without the need to install them on their system
iv. COMMUNICATION: Its allows you communicate with each other irrespective of their location.
4. Write down the disadvantages of Computer Network.
ANS: The disadvantages of Computer Network are stated below:
i. DEGRADATION IN PERFORMANCE: Allocation of resources become difficult and lead to decrease in efficiency as hardware devices are shared among large number of user.
ii. SECURITY ISSUES: of users is accessing information stored on network. It become difficult to ensure privacy and authorized access to data as number
iii. NZETWORK FAILURE: Centralization of application and data means that a failure of a key component of the network like servers which can result in failure of entire network.
iv. COST FACTOR: Installation feature like cabling or configuration of computer network can increase the overall cost for an organization.
5. List the areas of application of computer networks.
ANS: Some lists of applications of computer network are given below:
i. It allow user to share files and document.
ii. It allow several users to work on a projects together at the same time.
iii. It plays an important role in the world of media-print as well as electronic.
iv. It had made possible in wireless communication like phone, video conferencing, etc.
v. It allows people to remain in touch with anyone, anywhere in the world
III. SHORT ANSWER QUESTION:
1. Give two examples of Network.
ANS: Internet and Satellite are the two examples of Networks.
2. Write the three types of Networks.
ANS: i. Local area Network (LAN)
ii. Metropolitan Area Network (MAN)
iii. Wide Area Network(WAN)
3. What is MAN?
ANS: MAN stand for Metropolitan Network. It cover an area of a city or entire city. Hence, it is larger than Local Area Network.
4. List the medias used for interconnecting networks.
ANS: Media use for interconnecting networks are:
i. Twisted-paired cable
ii. Coaxial Cable
iii. Optical Fiber cable
iv. Bluetooth
v. Satellites
vi. Microwaves
vii. Infrared waves
