    b. Explain the use of channels.

A channel is a medium used to carry information or data from one computer to another computer. This channel then connect to the Internet via router and modem. This way several pathways from one computer system to another can be established.

    c. Differentiate between a Router and a Modem.

The different between Router and Modem are given below:

    ROUTER

    MODEM

    d. What is an IP address and what is its use?

An IP address Internet Service Provider is an identifying number for network hardware connected to a network. It help in connecting your computer to other devices on your network all over the world. IP address is used to exchange information, send or receive e-mail message, etc.

    e. Explain the process of sending data from one computer to another.

Data is process from one computer system to another computer using the Internet protocol which provide an IP address which help in locating the correct destination of the sender and exchanging information when information is passed from one computer system to another, it is broken down into pieces call packets using TCP. Each packets contain 1500 bytes or characters. These packets are passed from one network to another until they reach their destination. At their destination, TCP reassembles the packets into a complete message. If the packets are damage or lost, a request is sent to the sender to resend them.

    f. What do you mean by Modulation and Demodulation?

Modulation is the process of converting a digital signal into an analog signal. Whereas, Demodulation is the process of converting an analog signal into digital signal.

    g. What do you mean by World Wide Web?

World Wide Web is an internet- based networks of server that are interconnected through hypertext which is a method of presenting information in which the section of highlighted text displays more information on a particular topic called hyper link.

    j. Explain the two type of Web addressing system with examples.

The two type of Web addressing system are:

    i) Letter Addressing System: The web address of any computer or network can be given using alphabets called letter addressing system and it is popularly known as DNS. Example assam.gov.in, yahoo.com, hotmail.com etc. The last three letters of the address provide information on the kind of organization the address belong to. The letters also uses country codes comprising two letters. Examples of country codes are: ca (Canada), in (India), us (United State), Jp (Japan) etc.

ii) Number Addressing System: Every TCP/IP network require network number and every host on a TCP/IP network required a unique IP address.

    Example: 132.128.1.100

         (Network part)   (Host Part)
