    B. Answer the following questions:

    1. Write a short notes on Application software.

Application software is a software aimed at performing a specific task that makes our computer truly useful. These programs come in the form of files that you install on your hard disk. It can be customize and developed according to a user’s needs. Example payroll programs are used for accounting and payment system in organization.

    2. “Computer can be divided in different categories.” Explain.

Computer system is essentially divided into three components. The are:

     i) Hardware: It refers to a physical components that make up a computer system that can be touch or feel by us. Hardware come in two basic varieties- Internal Hardware and External Hardware.

ii) Software: It refers to the programs that runs on computers. It is a set of instruction on which a computer works. Each and every thing that happen inside the computer is controlled by some form of software. Software is normally classified into two categories: System software and Application software.

iii) Human ware: It refers to the people who work with computer. It is divided in different categories:

    End User, Programmer, and Analysts.

    3. What is the use of MICR?

MICR is an input device which can be used to read characters printed using special magnetic ink on a document such as cheques.

    4. How does OMR work?

OMR is a special scanning device used for the purpose of reading pencil marks made on pre-defined positions on the OMR form. It can scan and read the special pre-printed forms, designed with boxes which can be mark with a pencil or ink. It uses light reflected from the form and scans it for absence or presence of reflected light signal.

    5. What is the difference between an Impact and Non- Impact printer?

The different between Impact and Non Impact printer is that:

Impact printers are printers which works by creating a direct contact between ink ribbon and paper. These printers are noisy yet popular. Impact printers have mechanical moving parts to conduct printing. The three most common forms of non-impact printers are Dot-matrix printers, Daisy-wheel printers, and line printers. Where as,

Non-Impact printers don't uses any direct contact between ink ribbon and paper. They use laser, xerographic, electrostatic, chemical or inkjet technology. These printers are less noisy and don't have mechanical moving parts to conduct printing. The three most common form of non-impact printer are Inkjet printers, thermal and Laser printers.

    6. What do you mean by combined I/O devices? Give example.

Some devices allows user to input data as well as provide output from the computer system are called combined I/O devices. Touch screens are examples of combined I/O devices.

    7. What is magnetic Strip Card? Give example.

A magnetic strip card is a card having a magnetic strip on it that stores information coded information. Example of Magnetic strip cards are credit card, identity cards, access cards and metro cards.

    8. What is the use of Black strip?

Black strip is a magnetic strip use to stores coded  information in form of magnetic signal.

    9. What is Human ware? Explain it users.

Human ware refers to the people who work with computers. It can be divided in different categories-

    i) End user: An end user is someone who is the ultimate user of the programs and software developed by the other people

ii) Programmers: A programmers is someone who creates and developed the software that are used by the other people.

iii) Analysts: An analysts is a computer expert who visualises and design new computer technologies and software’s.

    10. What is the use of Plasma monitor?

Plasma monitor use digital signals produced by fluorescent lights to display pixel on the screen. Each pixel is produced by lights of three colours by varying their intensity.

    11. With the help of a diagram explain the IPO cycle?

Block digram of IPO Cycle image.png

Input – Process – Output cycle is the basic process through which a computer works. It involves accepting input from Some input devices, processing the data into information on its brain that is CPU and generate the final meaningful information as an output. A storage device saves the output information in the computer’s hard drive or other type of secondary storage device permanently.
